Be sure to check out THIS site on Soda Package inspiration. They may help evolve your current ideas for this project.

Portfolio/Capstone Course: Online Portfolios

This coming week in the Portfolio/Capstone class, we will begin our discussion on our online portfolio/identity. I will be giving you various sites to go look at to take into consideration for your web portfolio, but I wanted to share this first. I stumbled on this student website today and it was a great example of an online portfolio.

Make sure you check out: http://www.agathapeake.com/

Be sure to click on one of her projects and scroll through her images to see how she photographed her work for a more detailed view (specifically the books/packaging).

This will be an appetizer for this coming week's project on online portfolios.

Blogs!!!

Portfolio/Capstone Class:

This post will serve as our sounding board to share good/interesting blogger sites that you found during your weekly blog assignment.

Remember the project is as follows:

Assignment/Exercise Description

Part One:

Blogs!!!

They’re everywhere!

Blogs are a great tool for designers, not just for the sharing of ideas but for networking. Each week you will find a new design blog to follow. Hand in a written paper that includes their website address and key topics covered. In addition, include your response to their blog. Discuss style, set up, format, topics (relevant or not to design). Pay special attention to their layout, their ease/function and networking availability options (example: did they include twitter, facebook, rss feed links?) Paper should be1 typed page, double space, times, and size 12.

Part Two:

Time to start blogging!

You will be required to start a design blog and post a minimum of one time per week on a trend or topic that interests you in graphic design. This MUST be original….no copying and pasting from someone else’s blog. Post some of your work, discuss a technique, or maybe begin a discussion thread. Be original! Print out each weekly blog and hand in at the start of each week (1st class session, beginning of class). Try to network and experience the community of bloggers in the design world. It’s an excellent tool to exchange idea, reflect on your work/techniques and to network.

KU Graphic Design Student Photography Exhibition

Greetings,

The KU Graphic Design exhibition at the Carlisle (PA) YWCA will be held from now until July 28th. The Carlisle YWCA is located at 301 G Street in Carlisle (717-243-3818 for hours).

As well I made a virtual exhibition of this show for those who could not attend the exhibit.

There will be another exhibition forthcoming in town at the Washington County Arts Council which I will post about as the date gets closer.

New Blog Site

Greetings!

Welcome to the new home of the KU Graphic Design program blog. While wordpress is ideal, we were having issues accessing it from campus so the switch to blogger was made.

So save this bookmark as the course posts will now be coming from this blog rather than the wordpress one.
